(26-11-2003) Spain and France reach an agreement to present a joint proposal: the EU Competitiveness Council has agreed to propose the site of Cadarache as the European candidate to host the international Fusion device ITER, while Spain will host the European Fusion Agency that will administer the project. (Press release by the Ministry of Science and Technology - in Spanish)
(21-11-2003) Spain is offering to assume the full non-common cost of ITER site, 20%, if Vandellòs is finally chosen as European ITER site (see news item).
(10-09-2003) President Aznar visited Vandellòs and declared that "Fusion could become the driving force of an unbelievable economic revolution in a quarter of a century" and "it would be extraordinary if the success of the Project happens right here in Vandellòs" (full speech here)
(05-09-2003) The King Panel has concluded that both Cadarache and Vandellòs are "outstanding bids for hosting ITER" and "either site would be likely to win the international site selection" but "costs during the construction phase would be lower at Vandellòs"
