  The magnetic fusion program of the CIEMAT has its beginning in the first years of the eighties and currently focuses around a stellarator-type machine: THE FLEXIBLE HELIAC TJ-II.

1990 Euratom decides financing 45% (preferential support) of the TJ-II project when its technical viability is demonstrated.


1986 Creation of the Asociación Euratom-CIEMAT para Fusión. Presentation before EURATOM of the flexible heliac project TJ-II, directed towards demonstrating its scientific interest (Phase I).
